 30 Things About My Invisible Illness You May Not Know


Uzun zamandir saglik problemleriyle ugrasiyorum ama ilk defa bunun hayatimi ne kadar derinden etkiledigini ve kafamda yarattigim, istedigim hayattan vazgecmem gerektigini, bunun yerine herseyin iyi hissetmek, daha kotu olmamak, tehlikeli noktaya gelmemek ve onarilamayacak hasarlar vermemeye odaklanip, bunun etrafinda yasamam gerektigini anliyorum. Kisacasi, hayatta kalmak. Butun isim bu.


12-19 Eylul gorunmez hastaliklar haftasiymis. Ben yeni duyuyorum. Bu aralar iyice kotulesen durumumu internette arastiriken fark ettim bunu. 30 soruluk bir anket var, ben de dolduruyorum. Maalesef Turkce'ye cevirecek kafada degilim, cevirmek isteyen varsa memnuniyetle, ama benim halim yok.


1. The illness I live with is: Hashimoto's, Sjogren's, Gastritis, Esophagitis and possibility of Lupus.
2. I was diagnosed with it in the year: Hashimoto's: March 2003, Gastritis & Esophagitis: June 2007 Sjogren's: Christmas Eve 2010 (After many tests and wrong diagnostics)
3. But I had symptoms since: I'm gonna guess 1999 but might be earlier.
4. The biggest adjustment I’ve had to make is: everything
5. Most people assume: it's all in my head
6. The hardest part about mornings are: pain
7. My favorite medical TV show is: does "House" count?
8. A gadget I couldn’t live without is: a heater?
9. The hardest part about nights are: sweats - I sleep with a few towels and several shirts around the bed to change throughout the night
10. Each day I take __ pills & vitamins: 7
11. Regarding alternative treatments I: am absolutely a believer!
12. If I had to choose between an invisible illness or visible I would choose: invisible
13. Regarding working and career: a sweet past-time memory
14. People would be surprised to know: how much physical pain I can tolerate through each day
15. The hardest thing to accept about my new reality has been: myself
16. Something I never thought I could do with my illness that I did was: travelling so much
17. The commercials about my illness: none that I know of
18. Something I really miss doing since I was diagnosed is: making plans
19. It was really hard to have to give up: many foods i love
20. A new hobby I have taken up since my diagnosis is: alternative medicine & herbs
21. If I could have one day of feeling normal again I would: be so very happy I wouldn't know what to do
22. My illness has taught me: not to insist to others when they say no
23. Want to know a secret? One thing people say that gets under my skin is: hearing the words "feel better soon"
24. But I love it when people: don't give up on me
25. My favorite motto, scripture, quote that gets me through tough times is: 'all things must pass' George Harrison
26. When someone is diagnosed I’d like to tell them: it's gonna suck but i know exactly how you feel
27. Something that has surprised me about living with an illness is: how much it reveals about the people in your life through their reactions and attitudes
28. The nicest thing someone did for me when I wasn’t feeling well was: not letting me go
29. I’m involved with Invisible Illness Week because: I wish I could make it easier for newly diagnosed ones than it has been for me
30. The fact that you read this list makes me feel: vulnerable
